What About Valances & Pelmets?
Measuring for Valances
Measure the length of the valance track, plus returns, and multiply by the same formula as used above for your curtains to find the number of widths. Decide on which drop you prefer, adding 7.5cm for the top and 8cm for the bottom. If the fabric is patterned, calculate in the same way as for curtains.
Measuring for Pelmets
Measure the length of the pelmet board, including returns. If more than one width is required, do not put a seam in the middle. It looks better to have a seam to either side as there is no fullness. The drop is calculated as above.
