How Much Curtain Fabric?
Measure the width of the track or pole. Depending on how full you would like your curtains to be, multiply the width by 1.5, 2, 2.5 or 3 (a general rule of thumb is to multiply by 2). Once you have this figure, divide it by the width of the fabric. This will give you the number of widths. Divide this by the number of curtains. This gives you the number of widths per curtain.
Next, take the drop measurement, adding 7.5cm allowance for the top of the curtain and 15cm for the hem. This gives you the total drop measurement, if the fabric is plain. If your fabric is patterned, take the plain fabric drop and divide by the pattern repeat. Always round this figure up, not down. Multiply the result by the amount of pattern repeat.
